picnic : )

yesterday, mom, me and auntie elly went to the park! we stopped by crispers and got salads to have a picnic under a big mossy tree. they let me eat the croutons, and i relaxed in the shade.

afterward, we took a walk on the trail and eventually ended up by the playground. mom and auntie elly jumped on the swings & i sat on auntie elly's lap! we swung for a long long time and i had a lot of fun.

lastly, we went over to the soccer fields. we brought a soccer ball and auntie elly kicked goals for a while. mom (who believe it or not used to PLAY A SPORT - i know, i was shocked, too) sat on the bleachers and watched. i chased after the soccer ball but its just as tall as me so i can't kick it.

i had a really fun time. i meant to post pictures, but i forgot to grab the camera on our way out!!

BOOKSSSSSSSSS

my mom went to a book thing this morning. they were selling used books to benefit the local library. i think the books were donated by people in the community. it started at 9, she got there at 9:45 and it was PACKED. a huge warehouse FULL FULL FULL of books. there were even police officers outside to direct the enormous flow of traffic.

the most she paid for a book was $5. it was hardback & its a really new one so it was a great deal. she got 12 books total for only $29!!! she said she could only get 2 PAPERBACKS for that amount of cash at the barnes & noble down the street!!! she said she feels like a THEIF!! here's a pic of her booty & a picture of me that is blurry, but irresistible

drumroll please...

i've been getting lots of nice compliments on my new blog layout. thanks! it took quite a bit of time and excessive reading on html, but i think it came together nicely. to commemorate this new phase of the world from down here, i've decided to give out an award to thank my most loyal readers!

The "A Blogger's Best Friend Award" shall be given to your most loyal blog readers. Thus, the award should be given to a follower of yours who takes the time to comment regularly on many of your posts. In addition his or her blog should be creative, funny and always entertaining. Upon receiving this award, pass it along to two fellow bloggers who fit this criteria. Congratulations!

There's absolutely no question who THE FIRST WINNERS OF THIS AWARD will be.

Perhaps one of my biggest supporters, and in fact, the one who encouraged me to create this blog. Her posts are always quirky and make me laugh, but are regularly filled with interesting information. I find her book reviews to be helpful and entertaining, and her musing is always funny!! She definitely deserves this award!!!

Despite my striking resemblance to her dog, Buddy, Dar always takes time to stop by and see what I'm up to. I enjoy hearing about how Buddy is doing, but I also enjoy reading her book reviews (and there are plenty of them!!) As soon as me and my mom head home for a RELAXING SUMMER we'll be sure to stop by her blog and get some recommendations! She too, very much deserves this award.

Thanks to everyone for reading my blog! It makes this little puppy feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!! Talk to y'all later!

exposing my inner green thumb

today, mom, me and aunt elly went to kanapaha botanical gardens. it was a beautiful day to go! the weather was sunny and mild with barely any humidity. we were inspired to go because we wanted to "get out" and do something different, but mom has too many tests to take a day trip to cedar key or jax.

kanapaha botanical gardens is tucked way back, off of the main road. you have to drive about a mile on a windy narrow road to even reach the welcome center. it is a 66 acre facility with a 1.5 mile path that winds through many different types of gardens. here's our route:

we started on the left side of the map seeing the water garden,  and rose garden. then we walked near the picnic area (which we are planning to revisit) through the vinery, up to the hummingbird garden and finally back at the beginning.

mom's favorite was def. the herb garden. it's the largest herb garden in the southeast and it's sooooo fragrant. i kept trying to eat the mint leaves, but she was smelling the oregeno, chives, lavender, sage, saffron, curry...you name it..

the last part of the journey gave us a really nice view of lake kanapaha. it is a native american term for "palm leaves" and "houses;" like the huts the native americans built with the palm leaves. (PALM SUNDAY! TOMORROW!)

here are a lot of pictures from our visit:

mom is trying to pull me over the bridge in the asian garden but i just wanted to run the other way because im too scared of heights!!!
laying in the shade for break #1 with my twig!
they have one of the biggest bamboo exhibits..
this tree is the ONLY survivor of hurricane frances in 1991. i bet it misses its friends =(
break #2, on a bench in front of the waterfalls.

a picture of the zen garden.

the biggest marigold i've ever seen..

break # 3: hangin out in the shade.

in the rose garden. mom's favorite are yellow and white roses!

break #4 - taking a drink. boy, i was thirsty!

we took this picture esp. for grandmom fitz, we know she'd like these guys.

here i am in the vinery, under a trellis.

a really cool sinkhole, it reminds me of TWILIGHT!

STRAWBERRIES!!

a bottle tree! isn't it pretty? its an african custom to bottle up evil spirits.

yep, i sat ON the pansies.

i wish we could show you the rest of our walk but the camera died, =( !

we finished off the day with a bath and now im going to lay on the sofa and take a nap. talk to y'all later.

ps. mom got an ORECK and loves it. its orange!
